Pleased with the color palette and navigation bar (once I replace the current icons with less-blurry ones…more ppi?), but overall design is still in progress.
This summer I am applying to dental school. The application process is rigorous, competitive, and at times stressful. My proposed app, Destination DentSchool, would simplify the application process for all people interested in pursuing a career in dentistry and connect those who share a similar career goal.
This app would enable users to
- Narrow down the schools worth applying to. Narrowing will be based on a school’s location, acceptance rates (depending on cumulative GPA, science GPA, and DAT scores of the individual), cost, and overall reputation.
- Provide a forum for those going through various stages of the application process. Whether writing a personal statement or going for an interview, the user can find support through the pre-dent community.
- Organize and personalize one’s application timeline. Users will be able to map out a plan of what they should be doing and when to optimize their chances of getting in to dental school.
Essentially, Destination DentSchool is an app for your apps.
Though this app is designed with a specific career destination in mind, I could also envision other apps that cater to those interested in pursuing different higher education goals (vet school, med school, specific grad programs).
Here is my first project for Interactive Media udel.edu/~abbiesun/switch. Let’s just say it was a lot of trial and error. I feel like doing things is the best way to learn though.
This was the first time I’ve ever used Dreamweaver, and I have learned many new things. For example, I now know the basics of:
- Slicing an image for DW
- Embedding a video
- Positioning images
- Uploading files to a remote site
Overall, I’m pretty pleased with how this project turned out. I wish I had more time to work on the navigation bar and add make the images in the news section “click-able,” but it is 1:33 a.m. and the library closes at 2:00 (not to mention, I have an 8 a.m. tomorrow…NOOOO). Anyway, I should stop whining because overall I really don’t have it that bad.
Sorry for rambling.
I was going for an edgy, colorful, simplified design. I hope it proves to be an “interactive” experience.
